Open Solutions Launches Lean Six Sigma for Service Program

Intense program designed to improve customer service and drive operational
efficiencies
GLASTONBURY, Conn.--(Business Wire)--
Open Solutions Inc.®, a leading provider of integrated enabling technologies for
financial services providers throughout the United States, Canada and other
international markets, announced the internal launch of its Lean Six Sigma for
Service Program. Lean and Six Sigma are business management strategies designed
to drive speed and quality in company processes to maximize value. Open
Solutions has deployed an intensive program designed to build a culture of
continuous improvement, drive workflow efficiencies and improve the quality of
customer service throughout the organization.

Nine Open Solutions employees representing various functional areas of the
company recently completed the first phase of training. Once the first wave of
training - scheduled to conclude in November 2009 -is completed, the company
will have a total of 11 Black Belts/Master Black Belts to lead and execute the
company`s program. Measurable performance metrics have been designed and will be
implemented company-wide to measure and improve client satisfaction levels.
Additionally, a formal "voice of the customer" survey has been implemented and
the results are analyzed monthly. The results are being used to quickly identify
areas that need improvement and deploy solutions.

Open Solutions` Chief Marketing Officer David Mitchell said, "Open Solutions is
committed to continuous improvement. We are very proud of this first wave of
candidates and are looking forward to many more future training opportunities.
Lean and Six Sigma are highly respected and sophisticated methodologies employed
by some of the most successful companies in the world, and are designed to build
cultures of excellence, both in processes and employee skill development. We
understand that when processes are efficient, everyone benefits, most
importantly though, our clients will benefit from the improvements across the
company."

Lean and Six Sigma are business-management strategies that have been tailored by
firms such as Bank of America and GE to drive process speed and quality in the
financial services and high-technology industries. Lean Six Sigma combines the
speed improvements that come from using Lean principles with the quality
improvements that come from using Six Sigma. Lean focuses on improving the speed
of a process and the elimination of waste, primarily by eliminating non-value
added steps. Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology
for eliminating errors in any process - including transactional and service
processes.

Open Solutions` program is headed by Rob Pinataro, vice president of Strategic
Business Engineering. Pinataro is a former GE Six Sigma Master Black Belt who
holds an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania`s Wharton School, a M.Sc.
from the University of Portsmouth, England, and a B.S. from the U.S. Naval
Academy.
